Drowning is an excruciating feeling until you let the water in. It’s the trying to hold your breath, trying to fight and kick and swim that tortures you the most. But once you finally give in, once you finally breathe, finally allow the water to fill your lungs, that’s when the pain stops. It’s meant to be kind of peaceful. It wasn’t for me.
